The 24th Annual Practical Applications “The Next Chapter, it’s not Business as Usual” will be in Rancho Mirage, CA - at the incredible “Omni Resorts Rancho las Palmas”. The event will start on Friday May 30 and go through Sunday June 1st.
This year we will be dedicating the conference to Tyler Lewellen a popular, outgoing junior defensive back,who died from severe head trauma five days after collapsing on the sideline during a scrimmage with another team. “Tyler was a wonderful young man with a bright future ahead of him and everything to look forward to,” the school’s principal, Antonio Garcia, said. And we are very honored to have Teresa York, Tyler’s mom open the meeting on Saturday.
This year you will leave, with a method to teach, your parents, coaches, athletes and public on concussions. We will provide you with a step by step method, from the forms and Apps to use, to insurance, and ultimately putting you back in control of this injury. I am bringing in coaches, AD’s, administrators, educators, parents and professional from around the US. We all want the best for the athletes, let us help you, help them. We are very excited to have the expertise of such incredible presenters as - Jeff Konin, Ph.D, PT, ATC, FASM, FNATA, Chair for the Physical Therapy Department of The University of Rhode Island & The Sports Safety International & author, Robb S Rehberg, PhD, ATC , CSCS, NREMT, Sports Safety International & author, Kathryn M. Taylor – Doctoral Student in the Department of Environmental Health at the Harvard School of Public Health, Chris Marker, DO medical director for The SPORT Concussion Clinic, Bob Gray, MS, ATC, Coordinator of Athletic Training Community Affairs, Cleveland Clinic Sports Health. Chad Stakey, PHD, AT, FNAT from the Department of Athletic Training at Ohio University & author. Katie Taylor a doctoral student from the Department of Environmental Health from Harvard School of Publish Health and Brenda Bartnik Olson, PhD from the Department of Radiology at Loma Linda University Medical Center will talk about their research. Westin Smith, PT, DPT, OCS program director, Racnho Physical Therapy & Paul Reiman, MD will go over the rehabilitation of concussions. This day will star with the problems we face with concussion, followed by the science, then followed by the solutions you will able to take home.
Saturday night we will host an event for all to enjoy. You will not want to miss this.

William “Bill” Prentice, PhD, ATC, PT, FNATA will speak on “Is a Transition to an Entry-Level Masters the Correct Choice for Our Profession?” We will have presenters like Scottie Parker, MS, ATC CSCS (Seasonal Athletic Trainer for the Super Bowl Champions Seattle Seahawks) speaking on “The Impact of a positive culture – my season with the Seattle Seahawks”, Gerry Ramogida, DC (Seattle Seahawks Chiropractor) speaking on “Manual techniques for mobility of lower extremity, foot, and ankle mobilization“, Vince O’Brien, ATC from The Ohio State University address “The Athletic Trainer in the Weight Room and how to decrease Injuries, Cameron Moreland, MS, CSCS, NSCA-CPT, CF-L1 presenting on “Neck Strengthening as it Pertains to Concussion” Jerome Wall, MD Brent. d’Arc, MD, Thomas Jackson, MD, and Keolanui Chun, MD will provide their expertise on the cadaver dissections.
