The SPORTS Clinic has CIF Certified Assessors that perform the Bioelectrical Impedance assessment or the new “BodyMetrixWR Ultrasound System needed to compete for high school. The times for this test are 6am-8am, Monday thru Friday and Saturday during the fall at 9am (Saturdays until November 17th) at a cost of $10.00. If you would like a Bod-pod evaluation let me know and Cal Sate University of San Bernardino has one.
The CIF Weight Certification program has two basic components:
- Nutrition Education
- Establishment of a healthy minimum weight for each wrestler
The CIF Weight Certification program does not allow the body fat percentage of student-athletes to fall below a certain level:
- Male wrestlers must maintain a minimum of 7% body fat
- Female wrestlers must maintain a minimum of 12% body fat
The CIF Weight Certification Program sets a healthy limit for how much and how quickly wrestlers are safely allowed to reduce their weight. The CIF Weight Certification Program controls the rate of weight loss and also establishes an acceptable, healthy minimum weight for each wrestler through the use of a bioelectrical impedance measurement (Tanita Scale).
If an athlete needs to have a physician clearance due to the body fat percentage level falling below the minimum. The hours the physician is available are 4pm-5pm at Riverside Medical Clinic.
